After the initial bike purchase, a helmet is the second
most important purchase you will make. An essential item where
safety is concerned, but safety doesn't have to be dull and
boring as you will see. It can be difficult deciding what
type of motorcycle helmet to choose, what brand, what price
range etc. This page is designed to make it that bit easier,
laying out the difference between and Shoei helmet and an
Airoh as well as details about the manufacturing process.
What's the difference between a flip-up
helmet, full face helmets and Moto-X helmet?
Moto-X
Bike Helmets:
The Moto-X helmets are suitable for off road use,
with features such as adjustable peak extensions for
light diffusion and grip pads for secure google placement.
|
 |
Full Face Helmets:
The full face helmet offers all
round protection with benefits such as luxurious removable
lining, anti-fog / anti-scratch visors, ventilation
for keeping cool in the summer months and stuning graphics.
|
|
Flip-up Helmets:
Flip-up motorbike helmets are basically two for the
price of one. When closed they offer all the benefits
off a full face helmet, when opened they act as an open-face
helmet, perfect for the summer months. |

Shoei
Motorbike Helmets |
Shoei are, of course, the
market leader when it comes to top of the range motorbike
helmets. In terms of style, design, technical specification,
safety and quality they are by far the best helmet on the
market, so much so that they guarantee you will feel and
enjoy this quality everytime you put on a helmet. The stunning
visual graphics are like no other on both their full face
and Off Road motorbike helmets. They regularly receive high
ratings in the Sharp testing with the new XR1100 receiving
top marks! When it comes to the design and technology of
a Shoei bike helmet it really is no holds barred. As the
realise that ventilation really only works if the hot air
can be despersed and well as cool air being allowed in,
their helmets have Aero-Vortex-Ventilations. With their
characteristic V-shape, they create negative pressure making
use of the riding windstream. Warm air from the rider´s
head is actively drawn out of the helmet.
The interior is high quality and incredibly comfortable,
a snug fit without being painful. Their top-spec helmets
now have a completely detachable interior with 7 different
sized cheek pads for your own perfect fit. Many customers
complain that ther ears feel squashed when trying a helmet
on, this totally eradicates that problem.

Life expectancy
of a motorcycle helmet and helmet care
How long your helmet lasts
depends on the quality of the helmet and the care it receives.
If your helmet receives a heavy knock (for example if you
drop it outside) or, of course, if you have an accident
you should replace the helmet immediately. Any crash or
a drop from as little as 4ft can damage your helmet. The
exterior may appear to be fine but the internals could be
damaged. A helmet is designed to protect you in an accident,
but only once and should not be used again afterwards.
To clean a gloss motorcycle
lid we recommend using the same products you would use to
clean your motorbike paintwork. Use soap and warm water
for matt finish helmets. Do not apply severe pressure, instead
apply several treatments. Removable liners can be machine
washed at 30 and drip dried. For non-removable liners you
may wish to use anti-bacterial freshening sprays.
A helmet that is well looked
after can last anything between 2-5 years, we would then
recommend replacing it for a new one. Do
not sell or give your old helmet away as you may be putting
someone else in danger. Never buy a second hand helmet as
you do not know if it has been dropped!!!
